How do we get students involved in AT decision making?

  • By teaching students and supporting them in using Self-Determination skills
  • By helping students to identify their preferences, interests, needs and strengths
  • By  helping them identify what accommodations and assistive technology works best for them
  • By giving them the tools to figure where and when they need to use AT
  • By giving them opportunities to advocate for themselves and express what they need for success
  • By teaching them how to set long term and short term goals to reach future goals
  • By involving students in the AT Consideration process
